Winter Wonderland: More Snow!

After a mild weekend with temperatures in the upper forties and the grass finally visible we woke up to yet another winter's snow.  I have totally lost count of the number of snow falls we have had at this point with two more in the forecast for this week.  Having mixed feelings about the snow, and truthfully having had enough, its beauty never ceases to amaze me.  It looks like such a winter wonderland outside I had to venture out with camera once again!

  3. We get snow so rarely that every event is cause for celebration. Even so, it gets old after a few days. I'm glad you took such beautiful photos: best of both worlds.

    1. This is the first time I have ever seen a pink hue from the bark glowing through the covering of snow. I guess winter's cold and snow does have some merits. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. This is the first time since I have had the tree that it has literally glowed pink with the snow. It has to have something to do with the several cold spells we recently had that just brought out the color...the colder the better. Thank you so much for visiting and commenting!

  10. What beautiful photographs these are, Lee!
We have had very little snow this winter, but the cold, even by Upstate NY standards, has been brutal. We were supposed to have a major snowstorm today into tomorrow, but so far nothing. They say another is on the way Sunday. We'll see....

  11. Your garden looks so beautiful with all that snow, it is a real winter wonderland. We have years with a lot of snow but it is rare, this year nothing until now and it is looking spring like in the garden.

    1. Thank you Janneke. I will be visiting you for spring blooms! For now we are covered in a blanket of snow. It started melting when the sun came out today but now the snow is turning to ice on the trees...very pretty but bad for the branches. The forecasters are predicting another two to three feet this weekend...yikes!

  12. Gorgeous winter landscape. With all the trees and shrubs it makes such a beautiful scene in the snow. I love Coral Bark maple, and spec them often just for the pretty bark. In winter it makes such a statement.

    1. You made me smile Donna. Thank you for your nice words. The Coral Bark Maple is really maturing and coming into its element. The bark gets better and better over time and even more intense in colder temperatures, which we certainly have had. I have been enjoying your beautiful winter photos of the birds...and the serene photos of the falls. Keep warm!

  13. Hi Lee
I am of the same opinion as you - snow sure looks gorgeous and you certainly have captured it in these photos. But driving in it - ugh. As I write, we are getting another 20 cm dumping……sigh…….

    1. Hi Astrid. It is sleeting and raining here today so some of the snow should be gone but they are looking at more for Sunday....hopefully less than the forecasters are predicting. It will certainly be even more exciting to see those first spring blooms this year! Be safe.

    1. Thanks Angie. It is getting to be a bit much but at least it is nice to photograph. The last time I remember a winter like this was the winter of 1996 when we had snow from November through April.

    1. Thanks so much Debbie. I also enjoyed your winter photos. Nature really is amazing in creating winter art with the ice and snow. I am glad however, that we are not getting the major snow that was being predicted for Sunday!
